The fastest method is to halfway open up a paper clip and use the loop to flip the pit out. Amazingly fast – and I think the best way.
Wow, I wasn’t expecting that but I’ve now found a you tube video that demonstrates the paper clip technique. Thank you very much – I’m going to have to put it to use so I can try poaching cherries for the first time!
