Beat It!
January 25, 2016
From the New York Public Library archive…. a cult classic from 1961. The author isĀ CarlĀ Larsen – and I think the recipe speaks for itself. Still, I can’t help admiring how the author managed to squeeze in dig, The Hungry I, inner light, sputnik and loving spoonfuls. And what about that moose fat?

This is such a great find! Love seeing how cookbooks can be a reflection of time and attitude.
I love this child…and will try the recipe (curious), without the moose fat or Seagrams!
And note the shape of the chef’s hat! What a character. Is Carl still around?
Funny, thanks for bringing this one to us. Refreshingly humorous and w/o precious vocabulary we often see these days.
Hello Ruth
Knowing you are a kind and thoughtful person, I figured you might want to know that when one unsubscribes from you website, although it says you are unsubscribed that never happens, the emails keep coming. I have tried many times and it never works. Thought you’d like to know to take this up with your website operators. Love your books!
Diana, my apologies. We’re working on this. We thought it was fixed, and I know how annoying this is. Promise we will fix this!
Hilarious!!
Found a copy of this book on Abebooks. But it’s just one copy – and it’s $250.
