This exciting event is the library’s main fundraiser each year. Typically held in the fall, the gala is an evening full of fun and laughter for a good cause – your public library!
The 2015 James V. Brown Author Gala will feature award-winning food critic and bestselling author Ruth Reichl. She was the last editor-in-chief of Gourmet magazine and has written three bestselling memoirs.
Reichl’s latest book, My Kitchen Year: 136 Recipes That Saved My Life,” comes out Sept. 29 and follows the process she used to heal after her beloved magazine ended. Over the course of a year, each dish Reichl prepares becomes a stepping stone to finding joy again in ordinary things.
The 13th annual event, sponsored by the Friends of the library, will take place on Thursday, Oct. 29 at Penn College’s Le Jeune Chef. A cash bar will be open at 5:30 p.m. with dinner starting at 7.
Tickets are $75 per person and all funds raised benefit the library and its mission to champion the love of reading and open new doors to lifelong learning.
A few table sponsorships are still available at $1,000 each for a table of eight. Table sponsors are invited to attend a private cocktail meet-and-greet with Reichl prior to the event and will receive a copy of her latest book, sponsored by Wegmans.
For tickets, call 570-326-0536, ext. 134.
Since 2002, the author gala has raised more than $175,000 to support the library’s mission of being the place to go to learn, connect and grow. Funds raised from the event help the library offer programming for all ages.
