Celebrated food writer and former Gourmet editor-in-chief Ruth Reichl is coming to Seattle, and we're thrilled to partner with Seattle chef Renee Erickson to welcome her to town! Her latest book, My Kitchen Year, follows the seasons and the time that Reichl spent in her kitchen after Gourmet suddenly closed in 2009. As she struggled to process what had seemed unthinkable, Reichl turned to the one place that had always provided sanctuary. “I did what I always do when I’m confused, lonely, or frightened,” she writes. “I disappeared into the kitchen.” Part cookbook, part memoir, part paean to the household gods, My Kitchen Year may be Ruth Reichl’s most stirring book yet.
Join us for dinner at the Walrus and The Carpenter, where chef Renee Erickson and team will craft a menu inspired by My Kitchen Year. You'll enjoy a 4-course dinner and wine, take home a signed copy of the book. Best of all, you'll have the chance to meet one of the food world's great storytellers. And maybe she and Renee will even share a few stories of the time they spent together on a fishing boat in Alaska!
Dinner will be served at 2 seatings: 5:30 and 8:30. Reservation includes 4 course dinner, wine, gratuity, and a signed copy of the $35 book. Please note that reservations are non-refundable.
